  • Molecular mechanisms of ion channel function

Using electrophysiology, biochemical techniques, and structural biology, we seek to understand how ion channels work at a molecular level. Current projects are investigating mechanisms of KATP channel regulation and Kir channel selectivity.

  • Ion channels in physiology

We are interested in understanding how ion channel activity regulates a wide range of physiological processes. Current projects focus on the roles of Kir, TRP, and chloride channels in smooth and striated muscle, and endocrine cells.

  • Therapeutic modulation of ion channels

We aim to identify novel therapeutic strategies to target dysfunctional ion channels in human disease. We are utilizing small molecule and gene therapy approaches to address KATP dysfunction in genetically defined channelopathies.
